Three Arrested, Two Guns Seized Following Response to Stolen Car

Three people, including two juveniles, were arrested and two loaded guns were seized after Knoxville Police Department officers responded to the Wal-Mart on Kinzel Way on a report of a stolen car on Sunday.

At just before 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2025, officers responded to the aforementioned location, where a man had located a KIA Optima that belonged to his father and had been stolen from a home on Ashland Avenue earlier in the afternoon.

The witness provided officers with a description of the occupants of the stolen vehicle.

One of the suspects, a 16-year-old male, was captured near the inside front entrance of the Wal-Mart after attempting to run from officers.

Responding officers also located a second suspect, identified as 19-year-old Jarvon Rucker, inside the Wal-Mart. Rucker ran from officers, fleeing out of the store and across the parking lot before being captured at the nearby Murphy USA gas station.

Officers located the third suspect, a 17-year-old male, inside the Wal-Mart and took him into custody without issue.

A search of the stolen vehicle revealed two loaded handguns and a drum magazine loaded with 40 caliber rounds.

All three suspects were charged with auto theft and weapon charges. Rucker and one of the juveniles were charged with evading arrest as well.

UPDATE (May 27, 2025, 10 a.m.):

Following the arrest and after continued investigation led by Violent Crimes Unit detectives, Rucker has also been charged with carjacking in connection to an unrelated incident that happened on Sunday, May 18 at the Triangle Food Market on Boyds Bridge Pike.

During that event, numerous suspects stole a Chevrolet Cruz at gunpoint. The carjacked vehicle was found abandoned near a house on Sunset Avenue on May 19, the day after the carjacking occurred.

The investigation into the carjacking remains ongoing.
